Voting Plugins For WordPress Blogs

It’s quite a well-known fact that users’ feedback is of the great importance to the site owners. In addition to the fact that their feedback makes your site more attractive (because people like to read posts with a lot of comments and to express their opinion – they like being involved), it shows you how valuable and relevant your content is.

Thus it helps you to understand what the things that should be improved are.   Generally to get this extremely important feedback we give users the opportunity to leave the comments after each and every post. No doubt it’s a really nice idea. However there is one more thing that shouldn’t be underestimated – voting opportunity (voting functionality for posts).

Let’s discuss the most popular voting plugins for the WordPress that can help your blog to become even better.

Vote It Up!

Here are the common features of the given plugin:

  • visitors can vote just in case they are allowed to
  • you can very easy manage the post votes
  • users can vote “for” or “against” your posts (you need to enable the feature) – two-way voting
  • as soon as you activate this plugin the vote of published posts counts
  • there is quite a decent amount of features to be customized   and etc.
  • Installing Vote It Up!

You can get this plugin by pressing on “download” button here. As soon as you are done with that follow the steps:

Vote The Post

This plugin for WordPress allows users to vote on the individual posts on your blog or website.

Among its characteristic features the following ones should be emphasized:

  • the voting system is based on a 5-star system
  • after voting user gets immediate feedback that the vote was registered
  • administrator can control the amount of times for the registration of vote from an IP address
  • Installation of Vote The Post
  • download the plugin from this page
  • copy the vote-the-post folder  to your wp-content/plugins directory.
  • go to “Plugins – Installed”, choose Vote The Post  and click “Activate”.

In addition to that there is one more thing you can do – go to “Settings – Vote the Post” and modify the number of times a particular IP address can vote per post.

That’s it. It’s very simple, isn’t it?

Let’s just see how it looks:

  • before voting
  • 7

  • after voting

I’ve found all of these plugins unsatisfactory for our blog for a variety of reasons – the icons are too small, they don’t tally the votes the way we need, too little information or not the right kind.

I have found one I like but I’m frustrated because I can’t find a download for it. The developer posted it to a developer site but didn’t leave a download link or his contact info.

This plugin is ideal for our needs but why would a developer post an example of it and fail to give us a way to use it??? If you know how to obtain this plugin please let me know.

@Doug – I am also very interested in the plugin that you are mentioning. Seems ideal. Found anything about it yet?

I can’t find any plugin that, like a vote plugin, appears in every post, and, like a poll plugin, gives the users options to chose from.

I dont’ want to create infinite polls, and then jimmy them into my posts. I’d rather have a plugin that adds a poll (the same poll, infact) to EVERY post, and they are all unique instances of that poll.

for example, you have a photoblog

underneath each photo are the choices, just arbitrarily,

    I love it,
    I hate it
    i am indifferent

and for EVERY photo, there is a unique instance of this poll.

I have yet to find a plugin designed for that. do you know of one?

David, I am looking for EXACTLY the same functionalities. Have you found a plugin that can do it?

    Thanks in advance,

    Lucas
