They are pleased to announce general availability of Untangle 8.0. The latest version includes a new application for controlling bandwidth usage, as well as a host of enhanced features and improvements.

Bandwidth Control
Bandwidth Control helps small businesses and schools save money and optimize internet resources, by shaping traffic and bandwidth usage. Key features include:

Prioritization Rules: Untangle’s Bandwidth Control enables organizations to use rules, to prioritize certain types of traffic over others. Bandwidth Control comes with default configuration settings for several different organizational types and scenarios, to speed set-up. Additional fine-grained tuning can be performed as required, in Advanced mode.

Bandwidth Monitor: Provides insight into real-time session viewing, to see exactly what bandwidth is being consumed.

Bandwidth Control Reports: Provides reporting on bandwidth usage across the network.

Quotas: Bandwidth Control allows for allocation of bandwidth quotas, on an hourly/daily/weekly basis.

Penalty Box: Allows for handling of misbehaved users. Transgressors of bandwidth usage are transferred into a “penalty box”, with lower traffic priority and access rights.

Bandwidth Control is available from $25 per month.

Untangle Premium Package the new Bandwidth Control application, and is currently priced from $50 per month. All customers that buy Premium Package or Education Premium Package before December 31, 2010, will receive Bandwidth Control free as part of their Premium subscription.
