Tumix GNU / Linux is a distribution of free software that is developed in Peru, including the Linux kernel 2.6.10 and is based on Slackware ( the first Linux distribution ), the KDE desktop and a lot of academic software, office automation, multimedia and networking, the current version is 0.9, released on June 15, 2005 . TumiX GNU / Linux is licensed under the GNU GPL .
TumiX is a combination of words and meanings, Tumi ( ritual slaughtering knife used in the Chimu Culture Peru ) and the suffix “X” for the X Window System ( X is responsible for displaying the graphical information and is completely independent of operating system ) running Linux and UNIX, TumiX born in Tacna Peru (city in southern Peru), but sees the light for the first time in Piura, Peru ( city in northern Peru, where he developed the Chimu Culture )
