Epidemic GNU / Linux 3.2 beta 2
Unlike most Linux distributions, the Epidemic does not use sudo to give administrator privileges to the user default.
The epdsu, a program developed especially for the Epidemic, will check which user is trying to use programs that require root privileges and grant them automatically to the user epidemic.
This is very useful because it allows such programs can be run transparently, even from your icons without having to open konsole and type: sudo-name & program, or anything else in the genre.
But when the Epidemic is installed on your computer, epdsu user is deleted and replaced by that use, usually the root password to run any program that requires administrator privileges.
This method ensures a balance between usability and security, because administrator privileges are only granted to the Epidemic when the system is running from the CD, which usually occurs in a short time interval and, moreover, any changes made in the CD is lost during a system reboot.
One difference that has the Epidemic in relation to Knoppix and its derivatives, is related to the way the ramdisk is mounted.
Is the Epidemic, unlike Knoppix, it does not use symlinks in mounting the ramdisk, which is directly reflected in the directory structure presented to users that the Epidemic, is much simpler, and is completely compatible with the directory structure used by Debian.
